Signs and screens

Billboards, road signs and noise barriers on screw piles

With a sign or a screen the weight is small but the wind is large. It pushes sideways and tries to tip the sign over. Winged piles or piles with a block around the head take that force, without large concrete bases.

Screw piles installed in a grid on an urban site

Why no concrete?

  • Made for lateral force and wind overturning
  • No large concrete bases and no soil to remove
  • Vibration-free, also along roads, railways and buildings
  • Ready to load at once
  • Removable if the sign moves

Which foundation?

Winged piles

Plates on the pile spread the lateral force over more soil.

Block piles

A block around the pile head helps against overturning of large signs and screens.

Wind load

It follows from the Eurocode and the location; your engineer includes it in the design.

How it works

How it works on site

  1. InformationYou provide the size, height and location.
  2. Pile choiceWe choose the pile type and length with the manufacturer's data.
  3. Screwing inWith a compact machine, also on verges and slopes.
  4. MountingThe posts are bolted to the pile heads at once.

Frequently asked questions

Why does wind matter so much for a sign?

A large surface catches a lot of wind, which tries to tip the sign over even though it is light.

Along a busy road?

Yes. Installation is vibration-free and fast, with a small working zone.

Who calculates the wind load?

Your engineer, to the Eurocode. We supply the pile data.
