Stabilising the foundations of tanks and silos

A tank or silo puts a large weight on a limited area, and that weight changes with the fill level. If the ground settles more on one side, the tank tilts and stresses build up on pipes and connections. With expanding resin we compact the ground under the foundation, or we carry the load down to firm ground with push piers.

Sample of cured expanding resin

Do you recognise this?

  • A tank or silo that starts to tilt
  • Cracks in the base or concrete slab
  • Stress on pipes and connections
  • Water standing under or washing out from the slab
  • Level differences around the edge of the foundation

Safe on an industrial site

  • The injection unit stays outside the zone; only the hoses go there
  • The resin is free of CFCs and formaldehyde and permitted in water catchment areas
  • We follow the site's safety rules
  • Our team has already worked at chemical sites and terminals in the port of Antwerp

With serious damage, have a structural engineer assess the situation. Soiltek is a specialist contractor: we record, measure, propose a technique and carry out the repair, in consultation with your engineer.

What can we do?

Deep Lift

Expanding resin strengthens the ground under the foundation, without digging.

Slab Lift

Sunken concrete floors back to level.

Injection experience by sector

Our team has been injecting since about 2006. Since then we have carried out hundreds of injection projects in Belgium and Luxembourg, from homes to large industrial sites. An overview by sector:

Chemicals and port sites

Injection under floors and foundations at chemical sites and terminals in the port of Antwerp, and at a lock.

Logistics and retail

Warehouse floors and expansion joints for logistics companies, distribution centres and supermarkets.

Industry and automotive

Production halls for car manufacturers and for steel, textile and concrete companies.

Food and breweries

Floors and foundations at breweries, a water bottling plant and food companies.

Rail, roads and airport

Work for the railways, along a motorway, at a bridge, at a naval base and at an airport.

Schools and public buildings

Schools, municipal buildings, a post office and a research institute.

Energy

Foundations of high-voltage substations.

Homes

Hundreds of private homes across Belgium and Luxembourg.

Frequently asked questions

Does the tank have to be emptied?

That depends on the tank and its condition. We assess it with you and your engineer.

Can a tilted tank be straightened?

Often the foundation can be lifted in a controlled way. The owner or engineer sets the tolerances.

Do you work at high-hazard sites?

Our team has already worked at chemical sites in the port and follows the site's rules.
