Before you start

  • Request the location of cables and pipes: in Flanders via KLIP, in Brussels and Wallonia via the federal contact point (CICC)
  • Work out the number of screws and their spacing, for example with our pile calculator
  • Choose the right screw: LGT for terraces and sheds, PRO for carports and heavier structures
  • Have a spirit level or laser, a tape measure and pegs for setting out

Step by step

  • Setting out: mark every position and check the diagonals
  • Screwing in: keep the screw plumb and screw in steadily to the required depth
  • To level: set all head plates to the same height with a laser or level
  • Fixing: mount the beams or posts on the head plates

How deep?

For structures that must not move, at least below frost depth, in practice 1.2 m or more. Short 0.8 m screws are only for light applications such as fences.

When to leave it to us

  • For homes, extensions and modular buildings
  • In soft ground, made ground, peat or with rubble in the ground
  • Right next to existing foundations or pipes
  • With large wind forces, such as closed carports or solar panels in open country

Rental and instruction

We rent and sell compact electric and hydraulic installation machines and ground screws, and will gladly give you a short instruction.

Soiltek is a specialist contractor, not an engineering firm. We provide the manufacturer's product data and align the pile proposal with your structural engineer.

Frequently asked questions

Can I install ground screws without a machine?

Small screws can go in by hand, but a machine is faster and straighter. We rent machines.

How do I know the screw holds?

The stiffer the ground, the more force it takes. If the screw turns with almost no resistance, the ground is too soft and you should ask for advice.

Where do I buy ground screws?

From us. Request a quote via the contact form and we will work out with you which screws you need.
